NAPUS FCU is dedicated to making sure that your accounts are protected from fraudulent activity. That’s why we have decided to start this section of our website known as “Fraud Corner”. This is a work in progress as we will constantly add articles, new scam alerts, and tips that will help you stay informed not only for your accounts here but in your everyday life. If you ever have any doubt about a phone call, piece of mail, or email that you receive go with that gut instinct because there is usually a reason you are feeling that way. Important Stuff!
- Check your credit report once a year! To get your free credit report log onto annualCreditReport.com or call toll free at 877-322-8228.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If someone is asking for personal information ask why they need it, how it will be used, how do they protect your personal information from being stolen, and what will happen if you don’t give that information. If they are a legitimate company they should be willing to answer these questions for you. Scammers usually get defensive.
- Use the website www.idtheftcenter.org to find out about all the scams and to get information to help you in case you become a victim.
