Protect yourself from Holiday Scams!
Scams are present throughout the year, but during the holidays they are more prevalent than ever. By following a few guidelines, you can prevent yourself from being the next victim.
Emails: NAPUS FCU, Visa, and Visa Fraud will not contact you through email to verify your personal information. If you receive an email that looks like it is from NAPUS FCU or our affiliates that asks for verification, do not reply to it or provide your account or personal information. Call us immediately if you have any doubts.
Phone: Sometimes NAPUS FCU and Visa fraud will contact you by phone to verify that certain charges or other items on your account are legitimate. If for any reason you do not feel comfortable answering the questions you are being asked, please let the caller know that you would like to verify the phone call with your Credit Union and end the call. Then contact us at 1-800-336-0284 for verification.
Protecting your personal information should be your top priority. Do not allow the person on the other end of the phone or an email to bully you into giving out information. Do not be afraid to ask questions. If the request for information is legitimate the caller will have no problem answering your questions. One sure sign someone is trying to scam you is they get defensive very quickly, and when you press them by asking questions, they deflect from answering them. If you have any questions or have given out personal information and are having second thoughts about it please contact the Credit Union immediately at 1-800-336-0284.
